The vertical sides and horizontal rails of a Craftsman door create much of its design. Compare their widths with nearby casing, porch posts, or built-in cabinetry. A broad rail can continue a line already present in the house; a group of tall panels can relate to neighboring windows.

Glass above wood panels is one familiar arrangement, but the balance can vary. Smaller upper panes leave more room for wood below, while taller glass changes both the view and the amount of daylight. Look at the complete doorway, including its trim, as you compare designs.

Carry Craftsman details through the home
