Sidelights are the narrow glazed panels beside an entry door. They can bring light into the hall while leaving more of the door’s surface available for wood panels. One sidelight can suit an opening with extra width on one side; a matching pair can frame the door on both sides.
The details matter as much as the overall size. Aligning the bottom of the glass or the height of a wood panel with the door keeps the eye moving across the entry. We can adjust the sidelight’s width, height, and layout to work with those lines, including curved tops for an arched entrance.
Choose sidelight glass for daylight and privacy
Glass beside a door is close to eye level, so consider what someone on the porch or path will see. Clear glass gives you a view out and admits daylight; a textured or decorative pattern can soften the view into the room. Privacy depends on the glass pattern and the sightline through the entry.
Our exterior door sidelights use insulated tempered glass. Low-E, beveled, patterned, and stained-glass choices are available by design. You can coordinate the glass with the door or use decorative sidelights beside a simpler paneled door. Compare the glass area as well as the pattern: a wood panel at the base changes both the appearance and the extent of the view.
Solid wood components with matching framing

African Mahogany comes standard. A stained finish lets its grain remain visible beside the door; paint can tie the sidelights to the surrounding casing. Our team can help you select another species suited to the exposure if needed. The wood arrives unfinished, with guidance for full sealing and finishing before installation.
