Louver Interior Doors

Open louvers leave spaces between angled wood slats for air to move through. That can be useful where a closet or utility space needs circulation but you want a door across the opening. The slats interrupt direct views, although the amount you can see through depends on their arrangement and your viewing angle.

Compare full louver and combined layouts
A full-louver design carries the slat pattern through more of the door. A combination of louvers and wood panels breaks up that pattern and changes where air passes through. Compare the placement of the louvered sections with the room behind the door and the surrounding woodwork.

Substantial wood slats in a solid frame
Our interior louvers are 1⅝ inches wide and ⅜ inch thick, set within a solid wood stile-and-rail frame. Standard door thickness is 1½ inches, with a 1¾-inch option. We use kiln-dried hardwood and traditional construction, without veneers or finger joints.

African Mahogany comes standard, with natural grain that can remain visible under stain. All 17 interior wood options are available. Consider the species and finish alongside the casing and nearby doors; we can help with a suitable wood if you plan to paint.

Choose the installation and finish
Order a slab for a suitable existing jamb or a pre-hung door with matching wood jambs, hinges, and stops. Custom jamb widths and hardware preparation can be specified for the opening. The wood arrives unfinished. Follow the supplied finishing guidance for all surfaces, paying attention to the slats and the spaces around them before installation.
