Double wood front doors with balanced proportions

Plan how the pair will open and close
Begin with the door you will use for everyday passage. This is the active leaf; the second door can remain secured until you need the wider opening. Check the usable passage through one leaf as well as the space available for both doors to swing, including nearby furniture and the outdoor landing.
The meeting edges, seals, and hardware work together. An astragal is a strip along one meeting edge that covers the joint between the doors. Exterior construction across the full opening
Our doors use solid, kiln-dried hardwood and traditional joinery. Standard exterior thickness is 1¾ inches, with thicknesses available up to 2¼ inches. Glazed designs use insulated tempered glass, with Low-E and decorative options depending on the design.
A pre-hung pair comes with matching wood jambs, ball-bearing hinges, weatherstripping, an astragal, and an adjustable mahogany threshold.
