Upper glass can bring daylight into the hall while leaving room for solid wood panels below. Think about the view from both sides: how much of the porch you want to see from indoors, and how directly someone outside can look through the glass.

Insulated tempered glass is standard for glazed exterior designs. Low-E and decorative choices are available, with options depending on the model. Clear glass keeps the view open; textured or acid-etched glass can soften it. The height of the glass and its pattern both affect privacy.

Solid wood craftsmanship and exterior construction
We handcraft our Craftsman exterior doors from kiln-dried solid hardwood with traditional joinery. Standard thickness is 1¾ inches, with thicknesses available up to 2¼ inches. Each door can be supplied as a slab or pre-hung with a matching jamb, ball-bearing hinges, weatherstripping, and an adjustable mahogany threshold.

A stained finish can emphasize the wood grain within the door’s geometric layout. Our standard African Mahogany offers an attractive, durable starting point; other species should be chosen with the entry’s exposure in mind. Doors arrive unfinished so you can coordinate the paint or stain with nearby woodwork, following our guidance to seal all surfaces before installation.

Carry the design through the entrance
