French Interior Doors

French doors frame one or more glass panels in wood. A single glazed door can keep a study connected to a hallway; a pair can open a wider passage between living and dining rooms. When the doors are closed, the glass continues to share light across the opening.

For a hinged pair, think about which door you will use most often and how much passage it provides on its own. Allow space for both leaves to swing without meeting furniture or built-ins. The wood rails and glass divisions can be coordinated across the pair so the design reads together.

Choose the glass pattern and view
A broad pane gives an uninterrupted view. Divided lites add smaller glass sections and a pattern that can relate to nearby windows. Our French doors use true divided lites where the proportions allow: separate panes divided by solid wood. Narrower designs may use simulated divided lites, with applied bars creating the pattern over a larger pane.

Clear non-insulated tempered glass is standard for interior French doors. Decorative glazing is also available, with choices depending on the design. Choose the installation for your space
We offer door slabs for suitable existing frames and pre-hung units with new jambs, hinges, and stops. Slabs can also be supplied for interior pocket-door or surface-mounted track installations. Plan the door’s thickness, weight, and hardware requirements with the chosen system before finalizing the dimensions.

French interior doors are 1½ inches thick as standard, with a 1¾-inch option. Custom jamb widths and hardware preparation are available. Our craftspeople can help with the measurements and setup, whether you are replacing one door or planning a new paired opening.

Solid wood to coordinate with your rooms
Each door is made from kiln-dried solid hardwood. Our standard African Mahogany gives the frame a natural grain that can be shown under stain. All 17 interior wood options are available, so you can select the wood alongside your trim and the finish you have in mind.
