Dutch Louver Interior Doors

Combine airflow through the closed door with the flexibility of an independently opening top. Our Dutch louver interior doors are handcrafted from solid wood and made to your measurements, with the divided layout planned for your room.

The louvers allow air to pass between the wood slats when both sections are closed. Opening the upper section creates a larger connection for conversation or a view into the next room, while the lower section can stay shut. Connect the sections with a Dutch door bolt when you want to open them together.

In a laundry room, the louvers can provide circulation with the door closed, while the open top lets you speak to someone in the hall. If you only need ventilation, our louver interior doors offer a full-height design without the Dutch split.

Plan the dividing rail and louver placement
Consider where the split will sit alongside counters, cabinets, and nearby door rails. Then compare how much of each section is louvered and where the design uses solid panels. These choices determine the pattern you see from the hall as well as the openings available for airflow.

Angled louvers interrupt the view through the door, but visibility changes with the design and viewing angle. If the room contains equipment with a specified ventilation requirement, have your installer provide those details so the louver arrangement can be considered for that use.

An optional shelf accent adds a ledge at the split. Allow clearance for its projection when either section opens, including space beside furniture or an adjacent wall. We can help work through the swing and hardware with your dimensions.

Construction and installation details
The solid wood frame holds open louvers measuring 1⅝ inches wide by ⅜ inch thick. Interior thickness is 1½ inches as standard, with a 1¾-inch option. We make each door from kiln-dried hardwood to the size specified for your project.

Slab and pre-hung options are available, with matching wood jambs, hinges and stops included in a pre-hung unit. Our craftspeople can help coordinate the hinges and connecting hardware for the divided door.
