Glass Interior Doors

Glass Interior Doors

Borrowed light, solid construction.

A glass panel in an interior door changes how light moves through a home. These doors are built from solid wood with glass sized and positioned to complement the door's proportions, brightening a hallway, connecting a study to a living space, or simply making a room feel less closed off without removing the door entirely.

Place the glass where it will be useful

Bring light into a hallway or keep adjoining rooms in view with an interior wood door with glass. Choose how much glass you want, where it sits, and how clear a view it provides, then customize the solid wood frame and dimensions for your opening.

A glass door can borrow daylight from a room with windows and carry it into the space beyond. A larger pane opens up the view, while a smaller upper panel leaves more of the door in wood. Consider the view from both sides, especially where a hall looks directly into a bedroom, study, or bathroom.

The layout also affects how the door relates to the room. Glass above a lower wood panel can echo nearby paneled doors; several smaller panes can repeat a window pattern. For designs built around broad glazing or divided lites, explore our French interior doors.

Compare clear glass with privacy and decorative choices
Clear glass keeps the rooms visible to one another. Acid-etched and patterned glass can soften the view while still transmitting light. The amount of privacy depends on the glass, the lighting, and how close someone is to it, so choose the pattern with the room’s use in mind.

Seedy, glue-chip, and beveled glass offer different textures and detail; decorative glass does not always obscure the view. Stained glass is another possibility when color or a defined pattern is part of the design. We can help confirm the available glazing for the door you choose.

Our interior doors use non-insulated glazing, with clear tempered glass and decorative options. These are doors for spaces within the home. For a doorway to the outdoors, use our glass exterior doors, which have exterior construction and insulated glazing.

Plan the woodwork around the glass
The wood frame remains a visible part of the design. African Mahogany is our standard, a durable wood with an attractive grain under stain. All 17 interior wood options are available, so you can consider other species alongside the room’s casing, floors, or cabinetry.

If you are planning a larger framed opening, interior sidelights can extend the glass beside the door and an interior transom can bring light through above it. Aligning the glass divisions and wood rails helps the separate pieces work together.

Made to your dimensions and ready for your finish
We build from kiln-dried solid hardwood in a standard 1½-inch thickness, with a 1¾-inch option. Choose a slab for a suitable existing frame or a pre-hung door with matching jambs, hinges, and stops. Hardware preparation can be planned for the handle and latch you select.

Select a design above to customize your glass interior door online. It arrives unfinished, with guidance to seal and finish all wood surfaces before installation. Our craftspeople are here to help you compare glass choices or work through an opening’s measurements.
