Solid Wood Product Line

We at Vintage Doors pride ourselves in handcrafting high quality 100% solid wood products. We do not use any veneers or finger joints in any of our solid wood creations. Every piece of lumber used in our creations is hand chosen by our craftsmen and milled to perfection. Unlike other composite materials, wood has a sophisticated, unique look that brings unparalleled texture, depth and beauty to your home. When finished and properly maintained, solid wood is an extremely durable choice and will resist the test of time and elements for years to come! With Vintage Doors you get nothing but the best kiln dried, furniture grade solid woods and workmanship available on the market today - which has proven to last for generations.

Protecting Your Investment - Proper Finishing

Your new Vintage Door has been handcrafted to last for years to come. Like any piece of fine furniture however, it does require proper finishing and periodic maintenance to ensure it always performs its best. You must completely seal and finish all surfaces of your door before installation, including all mortised and drilled areas. There are two methods of finishing: (1) painting, which includes one coat of primer and two top coats of your preferred paint color or (2) staining/varnishing, which must include three coats of varnish. We recommend that you seal and finish your doors within a 1-2 week period after delivery. Unsealed and unfinished doors must be stored in a warm and dry moisture free environment. Do not store unfinished doors in a damp environment. Untreated doors will crack and warp if exposed to the elements. Leaving doors untreated or incompletely finished and subject to these elements and environments will void any warranty on our products. For further tips on how to treat your door, please visit our "How to finish your door" page.

Care and Maintenance

Your new Vintage Door has been manufactured to last for years to come, but like any piece of fine furniture, the finish will require some simple periodic maintenance to keep it looking its best and to provide protection from the elements. Regular finish maintenance is also a requirement of the warranty. At least annually, we ask that you examine your exposed exterior door for signs of weathering. If your doors receive a lot of moisture or direct sunlight from the south or west, you will want to examine the finish often. We recommend keeping an eye out for drying and/or fading and planning your maintenance accordingly. Sikkens, a high quality, recommended finishing product is designed specifically for exterior doors. This product recommends that the door be re-coated every 2-3 years if the door has south or west exposure and every 3-5 years if it has north or east exposure.

"I wanted to let you know how pleased we are with our new door. We had reservations about ordering without actually seeing any of your doors in person, but we are so very pleased! The packaging of our door was really outstanding, even the delivery guy commented on it. The door itself is very well made, and we expect it to last a lifetime. Thank you!" - Denise Miller, Yadkinville, NC
